Permission Best Practices

Security Guidelines

  • Principle of Least Privilege: Grant minimum necessary access
  • Regular Reviews: Audit permissions quarterly
  • Role-Based Approach: Use roles instead of individual permissions
  • Temporary Access: Set expiration dates when appropriate
  • Documentation: Maintain clear records of permission rationale

Team Management

  • Clear Communication: Explain roles and expectations
  • Training: Ensure team understands their access level
  • Feedback Loop: Regularly ask about access needs
  • Escalation Path: Provide clear process for requesting access
  • Offboarding: Have procedures for removing access

Available Now: Current Access Control

Account Ownership: Competition creators have full control over their leaderboards and can manage all aspects including participant data, settings, and visibility.

Public/Private Settings: Control who can view your competitions by setting them as public (anyone with the link) or private (account owner only).

Link Sharing: Share specific competition URLs with team members who need access. Public competitions allow viewing and basic interaction.

Manual Coordination: Use external tools to coordinate team access and establish informal permission structures while awaiting our full role management system.
